G29620 ~ Antique Hoffman 1N214 Germanium Diode in Metal Shell 1960

Antique Hoffman germanium diode in a metal shell part # IN214. These were made in 1960 and even though they are new, they are about 66 years old. Hoffman was founded in the 1940's and by the 50's had opened their Hoffman Semiconductor Division, which made solar cells for the Vanguard 1 Satellite in 1958. In the 60's they were located in El Monte, California-it was eventually sold to Gould Electronics in 1977, 1978. Own a piece of history!
